New Chief Executive for Gladstone Economic and Industry Development Board

The Chairman of the Gladstone Economic and Industry Development Board (GEIDB) Mr Leo Zussino, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Garry Scanlan to the position of Chief Executive Officer.“Mr Scanlan who will take up the position of GEIDB CEO on 13 October 2008, has extensive knowledge in the areas of trade development, marketing and project facilitation.” Mr Zussino said.
“Over the past 9 years Mr Scanlan has held key senior management positions within the Darwin Port Corporation and brings valuable experience related to the LNG industry as the Port of Darwin has an established and expanding LNG industry.”
“In his new role Garry will work closely with the Queensland Government; the Gladstone Regional Council; key infrastructure providers and the Gladstone community to advance Gladstone as a diverse, well planned, internationally competitive 21st Century industrial centre supporting a well-balanced regional economy.” Mr Zussino said.
“The new GEIDB CEO will continue to work with existing industries in the region and with proponents of a number of major industrial projects under investigation and proposed for future location within the Gladstone State Development Area (GSDA) and the Port of Gladstone.
“Mr Scanlan’s extensive shipping and development background and experience both in Darwin and, previously, in Gladstone will assist the region in investment attraction and major project development.” Mr Zussino said.
“Garry commenced his career in Gladstone working for many years in the shipping industry before moving to Darwin in 1999. He and his family are looking forward to returning to the region.”
