28th September, 2005

In the true spirit of cooperation the Gladstone Economic & Industry Development Board (GEIDB), the Queensland Government authority established to facilitate investment attraction and project development for the Gladstone State Development Area and the Gladstone Region, will officially launch its updated website at today’s Annual General Meeting of Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited (GAPDL), the region’s peak economic development and tourism marketing agency.

The Board has recently redeveloped its website to showcase the Gladstone Region’s competitive advantages for industry investment and to provide a portal for investor and developer access to a range of information. The website showcases the region’s competitive advantages, highlighting:

world class deep water port and efficient transport links;
availability of designated industrial land;
cost competitive location with world class industry infrastructure;
access to energy, water & raw materials;
strong industry support sector;
skilled labour & access to first class training;
innovative culture with excellent R&D infrastructure;
open & efficient regulatory environment with streamlined approvals process;
low sovereign risk & strong government support; and
welcoming, can-do community attitude and quality of life.

Speaking at the GAPDL AGM Mr Danial Rochford and Dr Ken King, Chief Executives of the GAPDL & GEIDB respectively were excited about the redeveloped GEIDB website.

“By bringing together relevant links and data the GEIDB website allows businesses, investors, developers, residents and visitors to quickly access current industry activity and overview the exciting range of existing and proposed developments in the Gladstone Region, which is undoubtedly the powerhouse of industrial development and the Global Location of Choice for major industry investment in Queensland” they said.
